Julie began her theatrical education at American Theatre Arts Conservatory in Los Angeles and completed her classical training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and holds an MFA in playwriting from Goddard College. She has worked in theatres up and down the west coast and southwestern environs. Favorite roles include Mother Wormwood in The Enchanted Pig, at the Sundance Institute, Susie Friend in Uncommon Women and Others at the Colony Theatre and The Fortune Teller in The Skin Of Our Teeth also at the Colony Theatre.

She also co-starred opposite Lee Meriwether, as Judith in Come Baby, Cradle And All for Theatre West. In Seattle, Julie performed the title role of Sarah Bernhardt in a Picture of A Goddess, one-woman show which was created for her, which she toured through the northwest and down to Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Fringe Theatre Festival and subsequently was produced for KPFK radio. Her appeared in the title role of The Redemption of Mrs. Satan, about Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for president in 1872, which was produced as a concert show at the Ruskin Theatre and starred Ed Asner, Barbara Bain, Bruce Davison. On television, Julie has played an eclectic variety of activists and agitators on General Hospital. But a truly favorite moment was when she was cast as a carnival worker in a gorilla costume (head in hand) opposite Anna Lee (Lila Quartermaine).  With numerous voice-over commercials to her credit, Julie was the voice of Union Bay Sportswear for the Rick Dees radio show.
